All Catholics should be concerned with personal salvation – for ourselves and for those we love.  It is essential to be preparing for eternal life while living here on earth. We must not grow cold in our relationship with God, the Creator of all things!  I am infinitely grateful for the gift of faith. The life of Christ and the stories of the saints are inpirations for our own lives.  Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures forever” (Psalm 107).

“The Two Divine Promises” is a devotion originally written in Poland in 1954, and published in the United States in 1987 by Father Roman Hoppe.  The personal revelations of three sisters and known Mystics of the Church are reminders of God’s Mercy.  Servant of God Sister Maria Benigna Consolata Ferrero from Turin, Italy (1885-1916), Sister Josefa Maria Menendez from Madrid, Spain (1890-1923), and Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska from Glogowiec, Poland (1905-1938), each received common themes in their messages during the early 20th century.   Jesus asked these nuns to be secretaries and artists, sharing His message so the world would know of God’s merciful love.

These words were revealed to Sister Benigna: “I desire to regenerate society, but I wish this regeneration to become a work of love. I shall use you as an instrument through whom I shall speak to My creatures and make known to them My will. I will use you to accomplish My work of Mercy. I Myself select the souls through whom I shall restore the Christian spirit in the world.  Such souls have existed in the past, and I will continue to raise similar souls in the future. Benigna, you are my ‘little secretary.’  Write for the glory of My Sacred Heart!”

Jesus wants us all to be apostles of His love. Are you prepared to say yes?  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  This is true when aspiring to be saintly, but certainly not accurate in the world of politics!  In this, one of the longest presidential campaigns in history, we have seen it all!  Disrespecting one another does not inspire hope for the future.  St. Paul said to the Roman citizens, “Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching, which you learned, and turn away from them. For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ, but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting” (Romans 16: 17-18).

Dishonest behavior divides our country, but our nation can never be weakened when the primary source of truth and strength come from the grace of God.  The moral decline of society is adjudicated in a court of law, but the Lord will be the ultimate judge.  Our divisive culture and the immediate reactions created through social media can be frustrating.  Rely on the goodness of God as you pray for His mercy during this presidential election.  Support those who are willing to restore a Christian spirit in the world because it is God who brings new life to many souls until the end of time!

God blesses cities and nations for the sake of the just. “By the blessings of the just the city shall be exalted” (Proverbs 11: 11).  May God continue to bless America!Amen!
