Your Catholic Community Continues To Evolve

What’s that old cliché … “Change is the only constant?” It’s something like that.

Take The Message as a perfect example. With this issue, we mark the first anniversary of full-on launch of our digital edition. Many readers are embracing it, and we hope that many more of you will at least give it a try. There is no need to give up the print edition – to be honest, I use both versions of our paper regularly.

For the past year, we have been offering those who subscribe to the print edition of The Message with the chance to get the digital edition at no extra charge, simply by providing us with an email address. That will continue throughout 2015 and beyond.

If you look forward to finding The Message in your mailbox every week, we encourage you to experience the digital edition, too.

Many of you reading this may not be subscribers at all. This is one of six issues that we annually provide to every household in the diocese. We hope you like what you see; and, if so, that you will consider subscribing. Envelopes are included in this week’s mailing for that purpose.

If you’re reading the digital edition, go to www.TheMessageOnline.org and click on the “Subscribe” button at the top-center portion of the home page. We’d like to keep you connected with our 12-county Catholic community on a weekly basis, and we believe our subscription rates make The Message a great value.

We will continue working on ways to do more, and to do better.

(SUBHEAD) Catholic radio is on the air

Depending on where you live, you can hear another way our Catholic community is evolving at 98.9 FM – and, soon, on 93.1 FM.

Over the past year or so, the Federal Communications Commission began granting broadcast licenses for noncommercial, low-power, FM radio stations. Two of them are Catholic radio stations in our diocese!

Located in Warrick County, east of Evansville, WDXM is on the air now at 98.9 FM. You’ll find great programming from the national Relevant Radio network. Its coverage gets WDXM into a large number of Catholic homes in the greater Evansville/Newburgh area.

WTJW soon will be broadcasting at 93.1 FM for the greater Jasper area of Dubois County. Listeners will find EWTN Radio Network programming on this new Catholic radio station.

The diocesan Communications Office will be providing content to both stations. We’ll take baby steps at first – but with a goal of using the broadcast airwaves to supplement our print and digital editions of The Message as new tools of serving this Catholic community.
