4th Degree Knights Assembly Hosts

During its 27th Vocation Appreciate Dinner, The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree  Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly of Washington awarded $500 each to seminarians, postulants and novices to assist with their educational expenses.

Presenters at the recent dinner included Jerry Price, Grand Knight of the Linton Knights of Columbus Council; Steve Riney, former Grand Knight of Washington Council 630 of the Knights of Columbus; Greg McCarty, Faithful Navigator of the Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly; and Joyce Schwenk, on behalf of the Washington Ladies Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.  Recipients of the $500 awards included: Jerry Pratt (St. Meinrad), Ross Gentry (St Meinrad), Lynn Falcony (Benedictine Sisters-Ferdinand), Joni Luna (St. Mary-of-the-Woods) and Adam Berendes (Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary).

Sir Knight Jerome Walker also presented Father Gordon Mann, pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Washington, $2,200 for Catholic education from the Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly.

Stephen Hart, a seminarian from the Diocese of Little Rock, Ark., who attends St. Meinrad, gave a presentation on encouraging vocations.  St. John’s Folk Group, from Vincennes, provided musical entertainment.

Members of the Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly extend a special thanks to Jim and Carol Templin, who decorated for the dinner.

Originated in 1988, this program is a collaboration between the Washington and Linton Knights of Columbus.  The Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly includes 60 members – 39 active members and 21 honorary life members. The Assembly celebrates its 67th anniversary in 2015.
