Walking

Dan Gilbert, principal at St. Joseph School in Princeton, writes in the parent newsletter, “Perhaps your children have told you that we have been working on improving our fitness by walking in the gym each morning.

“Each class has a tub of craft sticks of a particular color. As they enter the gym they pick up a few sticks. For each lap they complete, they drop a stick into an empty bin. Each day the sticks are counted by our student council and miles walked are then calculated.

“So far, our school has walked nearly 500 miles and we have only been counting for three weeks. Grade two and kindergarten have over 200 miles between them. I am very proud of their efforts so far.”
