Taylor Goebel, a rising junior at Mater Dei High School, is currently raising funds to participate in the Indiana’s Ambassadors of Music 2016 European Tour as a vocalist.

Goebel is a member of the Mater Dei concert choir, and she has participated in many local and regional contests. Since 2010, she has participated annually in the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble competition, earning a gold rating each time.

In 2013, she was selected to sing at a Mass at the Ford Center for more than 7,000 people. She received first place at the 2014 Fall Festival Amateur Hour contest, and she received the People’s Choice Award in a radio contest to sing the National Anthem at the Hadi Shrine Circus.

Goebel currently trains under Dr. Gregory Rike, a music professor at the University of Evansville.

Ball State University Professor Emeritus Dr. Joseph Scagnoli founded Indiana’s Ambassadors of Music; it is composed of more than 100 high school students who exhibit outstanding musical talent, leadership skills and citizenship.

In June 2016, the group will tour Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, performing, learning about numerous cultures and earning college credit hours. Mater Dei Band and Choir Director Dan Klipper selected Goebel for participation in the tour.

While the trip certainly presents Goebel and other IAM members with the opportunity of a lifetime, it comes at a price – each student must pay his or her own way. In order to fund her tour, Goebel has set up an online account at the Go Fund Me website, which donors can use to make named or anonymous contributions. Goebel has raised $2,000 so far, leaving more than $5,000 still to be raised.

“Thank you in advance for considering helping me to meet my goal of raising the funds for this tour,” Goebel writes on her Go Fund Me page. “Any and every donation is greatly appreciated.”

Goebel also notes, “I would be happy to give back by volunteering my time in return for any help you might offer.”
