Director of Healing Ministries

Providence Sister Carolyn Bouchard has joined the pastoral team at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper.

She has accepted the role of director of Healing Ministries, and she will be responsible for care to the sick and elderly, bereavement ministry, hospital and nursing home visits, support group formation and related volunteer coordination, according to the parish bulletin.

She is a native of Long Beach, Calif., and a members of the Sisters of Providence community at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Father Claude Burns, pastor at St. Philip Parish, Posey County, and Corpus Christi Parish in Evansville, celebrates his birthday Aug. 27.

Deacon Vincent Bernardin, Holy Redeemer Parish in Evansville, celebrates his birthday Sept. 1.

Father Brian Emmick, associate pastor at Corpus Christi Parish in Evansville and St. Philip Parish in Posey County, celebrates his birthday Sept. 2.

Father James Koressel, pastor of St. Peter Parish, Montgomery, celebrates his birthday Sept. 2.

Deacon Ed Wilkerson, director of Faith Formation at Sts. Mary and John Parish in Evansville, celebrates his birthday Sept. 2.

 

Anniversaries of ordination

Father Anthony Kissel, teaching at St. Leo College in St. Leo, Fla., was ordained to the priesthood Sept. 1, 1973.

Father John Boeglin, pastor of Holy Family Parish, Jasper, was ordained to the priesthood Sept. 1, 1978.

 

One Bread, One Cup

St. Henry parishioners Colton Schwartz, Gina Steckler and Jazziman Cissell attended the One Bread, One Cup liturgical leadership conference at St. Meinrad Seminary earlier this summer, according to Kristin Brokaw, coordinator of youth ministry at the St. Henry parish.

“During the five-day conference, the youth learned about their Catholic faith through sessions of catechesis, liturgical and spiritual formation, and participation in liturgies.

“They were also trained in liturgical ministries, such as lector, Eucharistic minister and cantor, learning skills they can use in their parishes and high schools.”

 

Bells for Holy Name

“We have a donor for the bells!” writes Father Joseph Erbacher, pastor at St. Peter Parish in Linton and Holy Name Parish in Bloomfield.

“The bells have been donated by Darlene Kordes in memory of her deceased husband, Dennis Kordes.”

 

A great success!

“Thank you to the group under the leadership of Tony West that hosted the cookout and pool party last Sunday,” writes Father Dave Fleck in the bulletin at St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell. “We had 300-350 people participate.”

 

Steward of the Vineyard

Wayne Blake has been named a Steward of the Vineyard, according to the newsletter at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dale. “Let his example serve as a model to us all in the sharing of our own time and talents.”
