“We are officially St. Francis of Assisi Parish, but we are still working on small details to bring us together,” writes Father John Brosmer, pastor, in a recent parish bulletin.

“This first year will be a work in progress with bringing multiple activities together and gradually forming a team that cares for the whole. We will bring our commissions, buildings and grounds, cemeteries and ministries together and look at ways to help each other and make our ministries and facilities great.

“Really, caring for one another will make us better; it will show our true spirit. We also have to continue the registration process and invite people to belong and to be involved in our parish.

“We have to share the Gospel message beyond our group. It is about reaching out.

“Some will look at this merger as losing something, but really we are all gaining. We become that Body of Christ to all people. Through all of this, you and I have to be patient. Change is difficult and sometimes the smallest change becomes very painful.

“I pray for you as you pray for me as we make changes and grow in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

On July 1, three parishes in Spencer County merged to become St. Francis of Assisi Parish. They included Mary, Help of Christians in Mariah Hill, St. Nicholas Parish in Santa Claus, and St. Joseph Parish in Dale.
