St. Peter’s is growing

“Have you noticed there are people at Mass on the weekends that you do not know?” writes Father James Koressel in the parish bulletin at St. Peter Parish in Montgomery.

“St. Peter Parish has grown over the last few years. Since my arrival as your pastor in 2002 there are about 100 more households registered than there were back then.

“The reasons for this are many. The town of Montgomery is growing.”

Father Koressel wrote that people are drawn to “our small parish community and the beautiful church we celebrate in each weekend. Many visitors, and new registrants, have praised the beauty of our liturgies, especially the 9:30 a.m. with the organ and choir. That combined with our small community hospitality makes quite an impression. We clearly have something going for us which is attractive to many people.”

He added, “However, with growth there are some concerns which must be addressed. One of the greatest of these concerns is this: how do we get to know one another? If we wish to continue the small community quality of our parish we have to continue to do what has worked well for us in the past.”
