Haiti Sidebar: About The Mission Team

St. Joseph, Vanderburgh County, parishioner Greg Head has chaired the parish’s mission team since 2007. He has been to Haiti seven times during the last 10 years. He organizes and facilitates team meetings that are held the third Thursday of each month. Head attributes the growing interest, willingness to help, collaboration of ideas and solutions, and the outpouring of support to “word of mouth” and the parish website. Several parishes across the Diocese of Evansville learned about St. Joseph’s mission team and the work that they have been doing and have been active in establishing their own teams and efforts.

“There is no way to tackle and complete every need that is evident in Haiti, especially because of the extreme poverty there,” Head said. “All of the projects we work on were started with the idea of teaching life skills that would provide a better way of life for the people of Haiti. Everyone who wishes to help is welcome to join us.”
