Ordination Of Deacon Is Dec. 5

Bishop Charles C. Thompson will ordain Diocese of Evansville seminarian Ambrose Wanyonyi as a deacon at 10 a.m. Central Time on Saturday (Dec. 5) at Annunciation Parish’s Christ the King Church, 3010 East Chandler Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.

At 6 p.m. Friday (Dec. 4), an evening of adoration in celebration of the ordination will be held at Annunciation’s Holy Spirit Church, 1800 South Lodge, Evansville, IN 47714. This time of prayer and worship before the Blessed Sacrament will be an opportunity to pray for Wanyonyi, a native of Kenya, as he prepares for ordination the following day.

Wanyonyi was born in Bungoma, Kenya, and is the son of the late Vincent Wanyonyi Okwisia and Gertrude Ware. He has four brothers and six sisters.

He is a fourth year theology student at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. He will join seminarian Tyler Tenbarge as a deacon. Tenbarge was ordained to the deaconate in May of this year.

Annunciation Parish will host a reception for Wanyonyi in the Christ the King cafeteria immediately after the ordination Mass.
