Holy Doors opened for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy at two locations in the Diocese of Evansville, and at St. Meinrad Archabbey, during Masses on Dec. 13.

Bishop Charles C. Thompson opened the Holy Door at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville during the 10:30 a.m. CT Mass. Father Dave Fleck, Dean of the North Deanery and pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes, opened the Holy Door at the Minor Basilica during the 10 a.m. ET Mass.

Archbishop Joseph Tobin of Indianapolis designated St. Meinrad Archabbey as the location of a Holy Door, and Benedictine Father Justin DuVall, Archabbot of St. Meinrad, opened its Holy Door during Mass on Sunday.

“Having just embarked on this Jubilee of Mercy, we have further calls to rejoice in the saving presence of Divine Mercy as revealed to us in Jesus Christ,” Bishop Thompson said during his homily. “We take great comfort in the fact that God’s justice is tempered with the sweetness of Mercy.”
