Journey with Jesus

“Everyone has their particular journey with Jesus,” writes Father John Boeglin in the newsletter at Holy Family Parish in Jasper.

“Jesus becomes very personal to us through the celebration of the sacraments.

“The greatest gift we can give ourselves and others is the gift of forgiveness. Jesus came to be our Savious to forgive us of our sins. Let us take time to celebrate the powerful sacrament of Reconciliation. Come and experience the healing power of Jesus.”

Father Jean Vogler, a retired priest of the Diocese of Evansville, celebrates his birthday Jan. 1.

Deacon Robert Hayden Jr. celebrates his birthday Jan. 12.

 

Seminarian at Holy Family

Christopher Floersh, a seminarian at St. Meinrad Seminary from the Diocese of Knoxville, will be spending time at Holy Family Parish in Jasper. “Studying for the priesthood has been the most fulfilling experience of my life,” he writes in the parish newsletter.

“I look forward to hearing the many stories and experiences of how God has impacted the lives of people while I am at Holy Family Parish.”

 

Cleaning project

Parishioners at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dale are sponsoring a highway cleaning project on Highway 162 between Santa Claus and Heritage High School.

“At the last clean up about 20 volunteers came to clean up on a very cold morning,” according to the parish newsletter. “The clean up was capped off with a warm lunch prepared by Stella Bennett.”

Connie Baehl, parish catechetical leader at St. James Parish, Haubstadt, celebrates her birthday Jan. 6.

 

Fundraising at St. James

The PTA dressing fundraiser at St. James School in Haubstadt made a record profit of $11,430.46, according to the school newsletter.bThe Breakfast with Santa event profited $2,331.32!

 

Spelling bee winner

Dan Gilbert, principal at St. Joseph School in Princeton, writes, “Haley Davis is the 2015 spelling bee winner. Haley also won the bee last year. The runner-up in Caitlin Meredith.

“These students will represent St. Joseph at the Deanery Spelling Bee to be held at Sts. Peter and Paul School in Haubstadt on February 24th.”

 

Memorial Hospital announces 2015 LCM award recipient

Cheryl Welp has been named the 2015 recipient of the Little Company of Mary award at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. The LCM Award is given annually to an employee nominated by his or her co-workers and chosen from a group of finalists by the hospital’s Mission Committee. Nominees for this award demonstrate Memorial Hospital’s mission and core values through their daily work.

She has worked at Memorial Hospital for the past 15 years and serves as the Executive Director of Post-Acute Services and Administrator for the Skilled Caring Center.

Upon receiving the award, she said, “I am honored and touched by this award as I am a ‘work’ in progress. I try to live by the saying, ‘When I know better, I try to do better.’ I feel blessed to work for Memorial Hospital, and I’m appreciative of all the wonderful people I have gotten to work with through the years.”

Mark Potts, youth leader at St. John Parish in Loogootee, writes, “A thanks goes out to the students who came and donated their time Saturday morning to help with the St. Nick Meal. The students helped prepare the plates for the meals to be delivered. Those students who came and help included Kashten Burch, Liz Burch, Cassidy Esch, Sean Lents and Maddie Strange.

“Our Christmas parade float was a success.  We had a number of students come and help with the construction of the float, along with the students who participated in the parade. Our float received the ‘Mayor’s Choice’ award!

“Those students, who either helped construct the float or participated in the parade, included Seth Blackwell, Nick Bowman,  Jake Carrico, Bailey Dearwester, Bryant Eckerle, Logan Jacobs, Sean Lents, Craig Lubbehusen, Jason Lubbehusen,  Addie Nolley, Luke Nonte, Maddie Strange, Lindsey Rasico, Carson Rayhill, Reuben Ritchey, Kylie VanHoy, Mackenzie VanHoy, Emily Wade, and John Wagoner.”
