Seeking Catholic war veterans
Bud Erler ofSt. John the Evangelist Parish in Loogootee writes in the Parish’s Jan. 17 bulletin: “The national commander of the Catholic War Veterans and I wish to establish a CWV Post in Indiana. Membership requires an honorable military discharge with a minimum of 90 days’ active duty; Additionally, being a practicing Catholic is required. It is my hope to locate the proposed Post in Martin County. If interested, call Bud Erler at(812) 296-0468/0662 or email buderler@gmail.com. Auxiliary membership requires a relative who has served in the military. Both men and women may join.”
UE Newman Club announces schedule
The University of Evansville Newman Club will host a number of speakers during its Monday Night Dinner & Discussion Series in February and March. The events begin at 5 p.m. CT at the Newman Club, 1901 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
The schedule of speakers includes:
- Feb. 1: ‘Mercy: What Is It Exactly?” – Isaiah Frey, UE Newman Club President
- February 8: “A Family Perspective in Church & Society” – Dominic Faraone, Catholic Charities, Diocesan Family and Respect Life Coordinator
- Feb. 15: “Promises Kept” – Dr. Jerry Seng, UE Professor Emeritus
- Feb. 22: “The Season of Lent” – Benedictine Father Godfrey Mullen, Rector, St. Benedict Cathedral
- Feb. 29: “Marriage: Central Gospel Passages” – Jim Ware, Ph. D., UE Professor of Philosophy & Religion
- March 14: “Arms Wide Open: Embracing Mental Health in Faith” – Nick Raupp, UE Junior, Newman Club Member
- March 21: “The Holiest Week of the Year” – Benedictine Father Christian Raab, Systematic Theology Professor, St. Meinrad
