Time to step up

Father Ray Brenner, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Jasper and Dean of the Diocese of Evansville’s East Deanery, wrote about the parish’s Confirmation over the weekend of Jan. 30-31, when Bishop Charles C. Thompson confirmed 34 young people. “While we pray for them,” Father Brenner wrote, “consider asking the Holy Spirit to take a role in your life too. Now is a great time to step up in prayer and give the gift of your time. When was the last time you asked the Holy Spirit to guide you?”

New holy water font and wall pedestal in Loogootee

“The workers from Trinity Church Supply … installed the new Holy Water font, which was donated by the ladies of the (St. John the Evangelist Parish) Altar Society,” writes Father Kenneth Walker, pastor and diocesan judicial vicar. The font is located by the door in the west wing of the church. The company did a wonderful job in matching the marble to the existing marble in the church, and I am most thankful to the Altar Society for their generosity. The staff from Trinity Church Supply also installed a wall pedestal donated in memory of Alma and Bill Walker. The smaller statue of the Blessed Mary that we use during the month of May was placed on this pedestal….”
