Reitz Memorial High School student Jack Folz and teacher Kim Bell organized a “White Out” to benefit alumna Beth Csukas at the Feb. 26 boys basketball game against Washington High School. Hundreds in attendance wore white, and many of them added the number 444, which is Csukas’ station with the Evansville Fire Department. A 1996 Memorial graduate and Evansville firefighter, Csukas suffered severe injuries in a January traffic accident on I-69 near Bloomington, and she continues rehab and recovery at Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville, Ky. Csukas’ sister and fellow Memorial alumna Brooke Csukas Raisor attended the game and spoke at halftime. Before the game, students joined Raisor, Bell and Folz for a photo. Bell coached Beth Csukas in softball and had her in home room for four years. The Retiz Memorial Twitter feed reported that the event raised more than $600 toward Beth Csukas’ medical expenses. Her Mom, Diane Csukas, is sales and office coordinator for The Message. She and Raisor are with Beth in Louisville.
