Penned Prayer Partners

As reported in the March 6 parish bulletin, a young parishioner at Good Shepherd Parish in Evansville has developed a pen-pal program between parishioners and nursing home residents! There are no deadlines … just a friendly ear on the other side. Although the bulletin requests participation from parishioners, The Message is taking the libery of expanding the following call to our readers. If you would like to be matched with a Penned Prayer Partner, please submit your name, mailing address and how many pen pals you would be willing to have to Molly in the Good Shepherd Parish office. Email her the information at mflowers@evdio.org.

Happy Anniversary!

‘Pennies for Patients’ update

It was another record year for the Pennies for Patients campaign at St. James School in Haubstadt. Students collected $1,853 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! According to the March 4 edition of “The Cougar Connection,” the school newsletter, the competition was pretty fierce between classes, but Sister Irma’s fourth grade came out on top with $88.45. They will enjoy an ice-cream-sundae party after Easter. The eighth graders finished second, and the fifth graders finished third. “However,” the newsletter reports,  “the real winners are the patients with cancer who are benefitting from our contest because the money will go toward research to find a cure. Thank you, everyone, for your donations and continued prayers for these patients.”

Happy Birthday!
