The 2016 St. Matthew School Benefit Auction made history on March 12 when funds raised by the annual auctions over 16 years passed the $1 million mark! Principal Vickie Wannemuehler, third from left, holds the “$1 million bill” the organizing committee surprised her with as she stands with auctioneer Andy Winiger, left, St. Matthew Parish Administrator Father Jim Sauer and Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Daryl Hagan. Members of the organizing committee kept track of money raised during the evening, which also included a silent auction, and paused the live auction when they met the milestone. “This began long before I arrived,” Wannemuehler told a crowd that filled the Posey County 4H Center. “From the bottom of my heart … thank you for loving our school, and thank you for loving our students. We love you, and we will continue to pray for all of you.”
