By The Message Staff

The Evansville Philharmonic Chorus Spring Choral Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT April 16 at St. John the Baptist Parish in Newburgh.  The performance is sponsored by Friends of the Chorus.

The concert will include “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass,” by Carol Barnett.  It blends the classical Mass, modern choral sophistication, touching poetry and traditional bluegrass instrumentation into an exhilarating musical experience. The chorus also will perform “Easter Anthem”by William Billings and a piece by local composer Bill Hemminger entitled “Wilderness.”

The Evansville Philharmonic Chorus is a volunteer chorus of more than 130 members, which performs major choral repertoire with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Audience members are invited to a reception immediately following the concert in the parish hall.

General admission tickets are $15, and tickets may be purchased by calling the Philharmonic Box Office at 812-425-5050 or ordering online at www.evansvillephilharmonic.org.  Tickets also may also be purchased at the door one hour prior to the performance.
