Happy Anniversary!

Father Anthony Govind, associate pastor at St. John the Baptist Parishi nNewburgh, was ordained to the priesthood on April 21, 2010.

So many Devotions!

Writing in The Parish Press, the newsletter of Holy Family Parish in Jasper, pastor Father John Boeglin says, “the beauty of the Catholic Faith is that it offers an abundance of different devotions to help us become more devoted to Christ. Each person and every family has to develop their own way to pray through the Sacraments, reading of Scripture and/or Devotions.”

He then discusses the history of the Devine Mercy Devotion, and the steps necessary to receive the graces of the Devotion.

“During this Jubilee Year of Mercy,” he writes in conclusion, “Pope Francis is challenging the whole world to appreciate God’s unfathomable mercy, especially through the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. In the Divine Mercy Chaplet we pray, ‘Eternal Father, I offer you the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.’ Every time we celebrate the Eucharist, our Divine Mercy, Jesus Christ, can transform us to become more of His image and likeness in all we do. His Mercy can transform us if we really, totally trust in Him. Then we can transform the world as ambassadors or Mercy!”

Happy Anniversary!
