Getting His Diploma

Raymond F. Beckwith, Jr., left, accepts his Reitz Memorial High School diploma from school board member Scott Stratman during the May 22 commencement ceremony at Old National Events Plaza in Evansville. Beckwith, who attended Memorial starting in 1945, subsequently earned his GED while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Stratman and the Memorial family surprised Beckwith with the diploma immediately after recognizing him as winner of the 2016 Reitz Memorial Distinguished Service Award.
