Monastery Baked Goods named member of Indiana Grown

Monastery Baked Goods, the bakery of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, was recently named a member of the Indiana Grown community.

Indiana Grown is an all-inclusive collaborative initiative designed to promote Indiana-produced agricultural products to residents, restaurants, grocery stores, farmers markets, wholesalers, processors and other retail businesses throughout the state.

The goal of the initiative is to help consumers more easily identify, find and buy Indiana Grown products and includes three major objectives: (1) help Indiana farmer/producers sell more products, (2) help Indiana processors process more Indiana Grown products, and (3) Inform Indiana consumers of the importance of buying more Indiana Grown products.

Still in its first year, the initiative has close to 500 members – all throughout the state – and includes a diverse community of farmers and processors, retailers, farmers markets, wholesalers, business partners and sponsors.

Monastery Baked Goods, formerly Simply Divine Bakery, was established in 2008 as a ministry of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana.  The bakery regularly offers nine varieties of cookies, including Springerle, Hildegard, Simply Lemon and Buttermint with Chocolate.

Products from Monastery Baked Goods are available for purchase at Monastery Gift Shop on the grounds of the monastery in Ferdinand and online athttp://www.monasterygiftshop.org/bakery.html.  Monastery Gift Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m to 4:30 p.m, and on Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. (ET).
