During a surprise assembly on Aug. 18, Resurrection School unveiled a new approach to building community. Students in grades five through eight have become members of four “houses” named after saints- St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Scholastic of Nursia, St. Hildegard of Bingen and St. Isadore of Seville. Each house has its own colors and mascot.

Resurrection Principal Theresa Berendes tells The Message that junior high teachers came up with the idea. “We are excited because we believe this new program will unite our middle school students, increase camaraderie among teachers and students, and created additional networks for teamwork in our school,” Berendes said.
