Bishop Charles C. Thompson, on the altar in red vestments, and several priests of the Diocese of Evansville concelebrated Mass on Sept. 24 to recognize the 25th anniversary of Teens Encounter Christ retreats in the diocese. St. John the Evangelist Parish in Daylight hosted the Mass. Concelebrants included Father Bernie Etienne, pastor of Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville and Diocesan Vicar General; Father Jack Durchholz, pastor of St. Ferdinand Parish in Ferdinand and St. Henty Parish in St. Henry; Father Zach Etienne, pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Evansville; Father Dave Fleck, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and Dean of the diocese’s North Deanery; and Father Lowell Will, pastor of St. Clement Parish in Boonville. Deacon Joesph Siewers assisted. Bishop Thompson noted that the diocese has hosted 95 TEC retreats to date. He also talked about many conversations he has had with those called to religious life. “I often hear that the seeds of their vocations were planted in their families, and in their schools,” Bishop Thompson said. “But what moved them to respond to the call were their experiences in in TEC and Source Summit. Tec is so powerful because it takes you wherever you are and leads you along.”
