Saint Benedict Cathedral hosts We Are One

Saint Benedict Cathedral rang out with the strong, young voices of students in Grades 8-12 the weekend of October 21-23. We Are One, a two-weekend program designed to help students find a regular place of leadership in the weekend Masses, drew together participants from St. Benedict Cathedral School, Reitz Memorial High School, Signature School, and Castle High School. Cathedral Rector Benedictine Father Godfrey Mullen and staff members of We Are One worked with the students to increase their ability and their confidence for various liturgical ministries.

The staff  was assisted by five college interns from the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana. These interns learned the technique of leading a small group in reflection on God's presence. These groups will continue to meet between now and March when a second program will be held. The March weekend will include a penance service for the students on Mar. 3, and an hour of Recollection at St. Benedict Cathedral at 6:45 p.m. on Mar. 4, with the young ministers leading song, scripture, prayer and reflection. All are welcome to attend.

The program is supported by a generous matching grant from the Center for Congregations.
