The guide was created to bring hope and healing to divorced and separated Catholics.  The course offers help in working through the emotions of separation and divorce, encouraging participants to share to gain wisdom and comfort from one another.  The series will address questions of forgiveness and new family dynamics.  Participants will also obtain an understanding of the annulment process.

Sessions will be held in the St. Joseph Room (lower level of Church) from 6:30-8 p.m. CST beginning Jan. 4. For more information or to register, please call the parish office at (812) 490-1000.

Grant winners to enrich curriculum

Trisha Memmer, third-grade teacher; Maria Janney, high-ability language arts teacher; and Christan Shockley, resource teacher, all of St. John the Baptist school in Newburgh, recently received $4000 in grants from the Mother Bear Charitable Foundation.  The mission of the Mother Bear Foundation is to enrich the lives of exceptional children.  Memmer’s grant will fund class sets of differentiated chapter books for her third-grade classroom. Janney’s grant will be used to purchase an extensive collection of higher level reading materials, critical thinking activities, and additional classroom resources for the growing K-8 high ability program. Shockley’s grant will provide testing materials that will aid in identifying students with reading difficulties, professional development for the resource department, and fund “Read Naturally,” an on-line reading fluency program.
