It’s a boy!
The Facebook announcement was simple: Jacob Anderson Dickel was born today at 2:59 p.m. and weighed 7 lbs 13 oz. Andrea and Jacob are doing well!
The parents are Timothy Dickel, president at Mater Dei High School in Evansville, and Andrea Lodato Dickel, principal at St. Philip School in Posey County.
Haubstadt family named K of C family of the month
The Knights of Columbus Supreme Office has chosen the family of James and Bernadette Wallace of the Sts. Peter and Paul Council located in Haubstadt as a recipient of the Family of the Month.
The Wallaces were nominated by the local council and were selected from many nominees throughout 72 jurisdictions based upon their service to church and community exemplifying the principles of charity, unity and fraternity of the Knights of Columbus.

Don’t text and drive program
Students at Mater Dei High School participated recently in the St. Mary's Don't Text and Drive program. St. Mary's provided a simulator that was placed in the media center for two weeks during January. Students were encouraged to take a turn on the simulator at least once during this period and experience texting while driving along with a nagging passenger and dogs, cats, deer and people jumping out into the street in front of them.
Mater Dei was the first school in Evansville to have the simulator along with a follow-up program. Principal Chris Tanner said, “If this impacts just one of our students, it is well worth the effort to potentially save a life.”
