Celebrating Mass For Scouts And Their Families

Bishop Charles C. Thompson celebrates Mass on March 5 at the Catholic Center during the Diocesan Committee on Catholic Scouting Retreat. More than 115 scouts and adults participated, and many family members joined them for Sunday Mass with Bishop Thompson. The day’s Gospel reading from Matthew told the story of Jesus spending 40 days in the dessert fasting and praying, after which He faced multiple temptations from the devil, vanquishing them all. “Jesus, in the dessert, turned to His values and principles,” Bishop Thompson said. “He relied on the Word of God, seeking always to do the will of the Father. We are called to strip away our egos and pride, and like Jesus, be clear on our values and principles.”
