Cursillo

The Cursillo movement, defined as a “short course in Christianity” started in Mallorca, Spain in 1944 as a movement within the Catholic Church to share fundamentals of our faith. The first Cursillo weekend in Evansville was held in 1974, becoming a catalyst for many families igniting and deepening their Catholic faith. We want to continue bringing more souls closer to God. We are happy to announce the first Evansville Cursillo weekends in Spanish, to be held at Sarto on June 1st-4th, 2017 for men and June 8th-11th, 2017 for women.

We need your support in 3 ways, please invite as many candidates as you can, be a sponsor to the candidates and help financially if you can. Please contact the Cursillo movement via email at post-cursillo@evansvillecursillo.com

As you know, Jesus came to evangelize everyone and send out St Paul to expand the church by preaching to the gentiles. This is our opportunity to expand our Cursillo movement like St Paul did and Jesus wanted when he said, “they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd”.

St. Vincent dePaul looking for a few good volunteers

St. Vincent dePaul Thrift Store is seeking volunteers to accept donated goods, help sort goods and move items out to the sales floor to replenish what has been sold.

Great changes are happening at the Thrift Store and help is always needed, particularly in the summer when the number of student volunteers typically decreases.

Training sessions are held at the store every Wednesday at 1 p.m. Just a few hours a week of volunteering can help make a difference in the lives of those living in the most need.

For more information, please contact John Payne at 812-425-3148 or email svdpthriftstore@yahoo.com.

Save the date

Starting June 1st, Good Shepherd Parish in Evansville will be moving Thursday Mass to 5:30 p.m. and offering Adoration and Reconciliation from 4:30 to 5:10 p.m., similar to the Tuesday evening opportunities.  In the Fall, this will allow the priests the opportunity to cover both the Reitz Memorial High School morning Mass and the Good Shepherd Evening Mass in case of absences.
