Memorial Hospital Announces 2017 LCM Volunteer Of The Year Award Recipient

Jasper – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has announced that John McGovren has been named recipient of the first Little Company of Mary Volunteer of the Year Award. The award is named in honor of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, the sponsors of Memorial Hospital.

The award will be annual, and is based on outstanding performance reflecting Memorial Hospital’s mission statement and the core values of Respect for Human Dignity, Compassionate Caring, Stewardship, Quality and Justice. 

Other nominees for this year’s award included Anne Berger, Sue Eisenhut, Ashley Hale, Alan Huther, May Kleeman, Flo Martin, and Levi Nigg.

McGovren has volunteered at Memorial Hospital for three years. He has been described as always going the extra 10 miles and putting patients first, staff second and himself last.

McGovren resides in Jasper with his wife Susan, who is also a volunteer at Memorial Hospital. They have two children, Matt McGovren of New York and Shea Fleck of Indianapolis. His mother, the late Roberta McGovren, was also a volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
