Father Claude “Dusty” Burns, pastor of St. Philip Parish in Posey County, has announced that Megan Howington has been named Principal of St. Philip School. Howington, of Haubstadt, begins her service immediately.

“After much consultation with the hiring committee, who did a wonderful job in assisting in this process, I am confident that we have selected the right person to lead our school,” Father Burns said. “Please help me to welcome her, and please pray for Megan and her family as they make this transition.”

“It is an honor to serve the people of St. Philip Parish as their next principal,” Howington said. “I am looking forward to meeting and creating relationships with parish families. I am excited to serve their children in the school and continue St. Philip’s tradition of quality Catholic education.

A native of Haubstadt, Howington is a 2009 graduate of Indiana University, where she majored in Elementary and Special Education. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2013, and completed the Principal Licensure Program at Indiana Wesleyan earlier this year.

Howington has taught in Gibson County public schools since she graduated from IU. She served as fifth-grade teacher at Fort Branch Community School from 2009 to 2012, and she served as special-education teacher at Haubstadt Community School from 2012 until her appointment at St. Philip.

During her tenure at Haubstadt Community School, Howington also served as Lead Team Member for Response to Intervention; Lead Team Member for grade level Data; and a member of the Elite Buddy Team.

Howington and her husband Heath have a son, Trey, who is 2. They are members of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Haubstadt.
