Local Youth Minister earns national certification

St. John Bosco Youth Minister Angie Greulich received notification of her Certification in Youth Ministry Studies on Aug. 8.  Her successful completion required her to meet the educational and pastoral requirements necessary to hold a Certification in Youth Ministry Studies from the Center for Ministry Development.

Greulich, also an alumnus of St. Meinrad School of Theology, plans to continue her work with the local Catholic parishes and looks forward to participating in local youth-serving organizations to strengthen and support youth through their teen and young adult years.

St. John Bosco Youth Ministry is a collaborative effort of Holy Family, Precious Blood, Saint Joseph parishes in Jasper and St. Mary parish in Ireland, IN. They provide opportunities for youth to get to know God, grow in their Catholic faith and serve the community with a spirit of Christian service.

Founded in 1978, The Center for Ministry Development, housed in Gig Harbor, Washington, promotes the development of ministry and catechesis with youth and families through leadership formation, service learning, and resources rooted in Catholic tradition and Scripture. Required coursework for this certification includes Practice & Principles in Youth Ministry, Foundations for Ministry Leadership, Skills for Christian Leadership, Evangelization & Catechesis, Prayer & Worship, Justice & Service and Pastoral Care. The Center has built a reputation for excellence through its work with over 150 Catholic dioceses and organizations in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and Belize.

Dubois County Museum welcomes local author Norbert Krapf

At 2 p.m. on Aug. 26, the Dubois County Museum will host a book launch and the first reading by Norbert Krapf and his wife, Katherine, from his new book from ACTA Publications, “Walt Whitman, Illuminated by The Message.” Part of the ACTA series Literary Portals to Prayer, the book includes 50 passages from the popular recent Catholic edition of the Bible translated by Eugene Peterson.

Krapf will read selected Whitman passages from the book and his wife will read the Bible passages paired with them.  The purpose of the pairings is to show that great literature, especially when read together with biblical excerpts, can stimulate reflection and prayer.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Beverly Adams, math teacher at Rivet High School in Vincennes, on winning the Vincennes Sun 2017 Readers' Choice Award for best teacher.
