The Season of Lent

“This past week, I heard the Responsorial Psalm that said, “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts,” writes Father John Brosmer, pastor at St. Joseph Church, Dale, and St. Nicholas Church, Santa Claus, and moderator and sacramental minister at Mary, Help of Christians Church, Mariah Hill.

“It dawned on me that we usually hear this response during the Season of Lent.”

He asked, “Was God speaking to me? Maybe I need to listen to God in the quiet, in others, in friends, family and enemies. We live in a fast pace society with work, school, activities, Internet and all the other technological devices that occupy our time.”

He added, “We definitely live busy lives. Am I listening? However, I am in charge of my life, and I can make a change, but will I?”

Lent is a “great opportunity to make a change in our lives to improve ourselves, but more importantly to change the inner self that will make us better Christians.”
