As reported in the Message back in January, Father Bernie Etienne has been honored as a recipient of the 2013 National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) Distinguished Pastor Award. On April 2, the Holy Rosary Parish, Evansville, pastor and diocesan vicar general officially accepted his award at an NCEA conference and expo in Houston, Texas.

Bishop Charles C. Thompson referred to Father Etiene’s recognition as a great honor.

“His complete generosity of his time and his talent makes him a treasure to us and among us,” Bishop Thompson said. “It’s reflected in his words and in his actions, in his complete giving of himself.”

Father Etienne was one of 12 pastors nationwide to receive the prestigious Distinguished Pastor Award for 2013.
