Congratulations

Cesilie Cordovilla, Catholic Charities' multicultural liaison, has received a $4,000 grant from the Vectren Foundation for the Hands UP GED Program, according to Sharon Burns, Catholic Charities director.

“The program is designed to pay for a client to take the GED exam (the price is often unaffordable for individuals).

In order to qualify, assistance recipients need to prove they have attended six sessions of a preparatory class (which increases the likelihood of success) and allow us to monitor their post-exam progress in finding a job or receiving a promotion or wage increase.

“Post exam interviews also allow us to offer additional life assistance.”
