Hallie Denstorff is named principal at St. Wendel School

Father Ed Schnur, pastor at St. Wendel Parish in St. Wendel, has announced that Hallie Denstorff has been named principal of St. Wendel School for the 2013-2014 school year.

Daryl Hagan, diocesan superintendent of schools, said, “Hallie is a Mater Dei High School graduate and was a middle school teacher at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Evansville.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Murray State University, and a master’s degree in educational leadership administration from the University of Southern Indiana.

From 2008 to 2013, she taught fifth and sixth grade at Holy Rosary School.

“I am looking forward to working in partnership with the St. Wendel Parish community,” she said. “St. Wendel School has an outstanding reputation, and I feel blessed to be a part of the parish and school.”


Dancing with

Our Stars

On June 8, the St. Vincent Center for Children and Families, a nonprofit organization that provides high-quality early childhood education and care for children six weeks old to six years old, hosted its fifth Annual Dancing With Our Stars, Evansville-Style fundraiser at the Centre.

The event featured nine Evansville business and community leaders paired with the area’s finest professional dancers in a dance competition.

The event grossed $100,000 for the first time since its debut in 2009; 350 guests were in attendance.

Father Joseph Erbacher, pastor at St. John Parish, Loogootee, St. Martin Parish, Whitfield, St. Mary Parish, Shoals, and St. Joseph Parish, Bramble, celebrates his birthday July 18.

Deacon Thomas Goebel, Corpus Christi Parish, Evansville, celebrates his birthday July 18.

Father David Fleck, pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish, and St. Vincent de Paul Parish, both in Vincennes, and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Petersburg, and administrator pro tempore at Sacred Heart Parish, Vincennes, and St. Philip Neri Parish, Bicknell, celebrates his birthday July 20.

Father Kenneth Walker, Judicial Vicar in the Diocesan Tribunal, celebrates his birthday July 22. He resides at Sarto Retreat Center in Evansville, and is sacramental minister on weekends at the four parishes in Martin County.

 

Pastoral associate

Deacon Joe Stofleth has been named the pastoral associate at St. Mary Parish in Evansville, according to Father Steve Lintzenich, pastor.

Maggie Phillips, parish catechetical leader at St. Clement Parish, Boonville, celebrates her birthday July 19.

 

Bi-lingual

“Nativity is very proud to have our first bi-lingual Newsletter,” reports Nancy Oskins, business manager at the Evansville parish. “We have been printing two separate newsletters for the past eight years. The bulletins were made bi-lingual during Lent this year.”

 

Catholic Center staff

In a recent e-mail Tim McGuire, diocesan chief operating officer, writes, “Dear Diocesan Staff, In the last 18 months, Scott Davis has provided a variety of much needed technology related support.

“During this time, we have engaged Scott as a contractor through Keller Schroeder & Associates. Over time, it has become apparent that Scott’s ability and approach are very complimentary to the diocesan environment. As a result, I am happy to announce that effective July 1, 2013, Scott will become a diocesan employee.”

Scholarship

Khloe Vonderheide has received the Brames Scholarship at St. Anthony Parish in St. Anthony. The Herman and Leona Brames Scholarship was established in 2000 to promote the advancement of the teaching profession.
