Sister Elaine scholarship
Haley Langen is the recipient of the 2013 Sister Mary Terrence and Sister Elaine memorial scholarship, presented by St. Nicholas Parish in Santa Claus.
She is the daughter of Ralph and Laura Langen, and plans to attend USI in the fall to study nursing.

ESL classes
ESL classes were held on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Guadalupe Center in Huntingburg from August 2012 through May 2013. Students who completed at least 25 classes include Carlos Rodríguez, Felipa Dubón, María Dubón de Ornelas, Lilian Ramírez, María Nelda Garza, Misael Calderón, David Figueroa Calderón, Jeny Calderón Lázaro, María Rosario Pérez Flores, Jaime Ornelas, Ana Serrano, Edith García, Mirna Dubón and Sulma Salinas.
Instructors for the classes were Sister Mary Judith Fleig, Sister Mary Philip Berger, Sister Doris Market, and Linda Berg. Thirty-one students originally from El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, and Guatemala participated in the classes. A grant from the Herald Endowment for Literacy in Honor of A.T. and Cecilia Rumbach of the Dubois County Community Foundation and other local donations support this program.
St. Mary’s therapists complete career advancement programs
St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville announces that 13 therapists in the rehabilitation program have successfully completed the Physical Medicine Career Advancement Program (CAP).
Under the program, associates earn points for community service work, taking on special projects, and going above and beyond their job duties.
Debbie Record, Maghan Bretz, Diane Murphy, Cheryl Macke, Sara Coomes, Mindi Schirtzinger, Kim Whitmore, Marcia Hargrove, Mary Beth Ozete, and Diana Gillespie received Level 2 designation. Abbey Carr, Steve Fosnaugh, and Cathy Willis achieved Level 3.
