Mater Dei Embarks On $4.6 Million Capital Campaign

 

Mater Dei High School in Evansville is preparing to launch a “Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow” capital campaign, according to Timothy Dickel, president.

“The $4.6 million campaign will fund areas related to academics, spirituality, facilities, extracurricular activities/athletics and tuition assistance. Major projects include an expanded and renovated media center, new prayer garden, campus entrance enhancement, energy efficiency improvements, new and improved athletic fields, tennis courts and an auxiliary gym renovation.”

The community is invited to the Capital Campaign Community Kick Off on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Mater Dei Kempf Auditorium.

“This effort is the result of careful planning for the current and future needs of Mater Dei,” said Dickel. “The projects identified in this campaign will transform the campus and enhance all aspects of the student experience.”

The campaign’s silent phase began in the late fall of 2012, and over $3.3 million has already been pledged. Eileen and the late Jim Will Sr. serve as honorary chairs. The co-chairs are Gil and Marcia Jochem and Dan and Laura Niemeier.

Projects will take place over a five-year period. Several improvements have already been made, including the media center expansion.

The projects include the following areas:

 

ACADEMICS: $705,000

The campaign will build upon these improvements

• media center expansion and renovation

• resource program expansion and renovation

• technology hardware, software and infrastructure improvements

• teacher advancement fund

• art department renovation

FACILITIES: $1.3 million

The campaign offers an opportunity to improve on the function, efficiency and form of current facilities and areas.

• public and student access restroom renovations and additions

• campus entrance enhancement

• redesigned campus drive in/out Harmony Way

• convent and housing removal

• energy efficiency indoor lighting, HVAC sensors kitchen appliances

• additional outdoor lighting and surveillance system

• telecommunication system replacement

• main parking lot utility improvements

SOCIAL/EXTRACURRICULAR: $2.36 million

• Athletic fields including a dedicated baseball field and a dedicated football field and a new six-court tennis center

• athletic fields improvements at Moutoux Soccer Field

• boys and girls locker room renovations

MATER DEI TUITION ASSISTANCE FUND: $500,000

The purpose of the Tuition Assistance Fund is to increase the resources available to assist more students wanting to attend Mater Dei.

VISIONARY PROJECTS

These include a new six to eight lane track, parking expansion, technology hardware and software.
