Saying 'thanks' To Deacon Don Yochum
As Deacon Don Yochum prepared to retired from his duties at St. Theresa Parish in Evansville, parishioners began to add up all the things he did.
“I’m sure even I can’t begin to compile a list of all the ways Deacon Don is involved,” writes Deacon Dave Seibert, pastoral life coordinator.
“If you were in the hospital or a nursing home, chances are Deacon Don was there. If you had a surgery or procedure done, Deacon Don was probably there with you or waiting with your family. Almost every funeral and funeral visitation – Deacon Don was there. Did you have recovery time at home? Deacon Don was most likely there too.
“It’s hard to say ‘thanks’ for so many of the ways he helped us. This weekend we realize how inadequate words are but still we say ‘Thank you, Deacon Don.’
“When we look at how much he did for us you have to wonder – was there more than one of him?”
