Saying thanks
Deacon Don Yochum writes a letter of thanks on the occasion of his retirement from St. Theresa Parish in Evansville: “Words cannot tell you how much I love and appreciate each of you. Many thanks for all your prayers, cards and well wishes.
“My retirement plans were to continue to be of service to St. Theresa, visiting the sick, homebound and assisting at Mass. But God had other plans for me. God said, ‘Slow down.’”
He said he has undergone “an unexpected surgery for a detached retina and torn macular on his left eye was required. To top that off, surgery on my right eye has also been scheduled.”
He promises parishioners “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

We Can Do It
“We kicked off our ‘We Can Do It’ canned food drive with a bang,” reports Shirley Jeffers, parish catechetical leader at the four Martin County parishes.
“The teachers got on board immediately and suggested we take the students for a tour of the St. Vincent de Paul Store and the Food Pantry so the kids could see how our donated canned goods are filling the empty shelves!
“The students dug out their spare change and started buying right away! Our goal is 1,000 cans by Dec. 11.”
