Saying good-bye

"Thanks for all the nice comments I received from you as I announced my new assignment as pastor of St. Mary and St. John Churches in Evansville," writes Father David Martin to parishioners at St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell and Sacred Heart Parish in Vincennes.

"I enjoyed being with you and feel great support, and will take these graces with me. My hope is that you feel the Holy Spirit at work in you and will be blessed many times over for your goodness to me."

 

Happy Birthday!

Father Stephen Lintzenich, celebrates his birthday Dec. 7. He is pastor of St. Mary and St. John parishes, both in Evansville.

 

Youth salute

Erica and Jacob Schmidt have received the “Youth Salute” in the parish newsletter for the North Spencer County parishes.

They are the children of Clinton and Angie Schmidt.

Sherie Cooley, parish catechetical leader at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Poseyville, and St. Wendel Parish, St. Wendel, celebrates her birthday Dec. 8.

Congratulations

Reece Mazzier and Olivia Day placed second and third in the state in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Coloring Contest. They are students at Good Shepherd School in Evansville.

Marla McCain, Linda Wendholt, Renee Berg and Betty Ingle are officers in the St. Anthony Christian Mothers Confraternity in St. Anthony.

 

Parish Council

David Kramer and Dan Fuhs are co-chairpersons of the Parish Council at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper.

Beth Ann Riffel is secretary.

Members include Mary Beckman, Scott Brandt, Christine Brinkman, Russell Jaent, Terrie Keusch, Butch Schitter and Bob Bogler.

 

Rest in peace

Shirley Jeffers writes that the religious education program in the four Martin County parishes “lost a good and faithful servant last week. Joe Ringwald was one of the most faith-filled, dependable religion teachers ever.

“His quiet, sincere demeanor was a constant for our students and he truly loved sharing his faith and bringing the Good News to everyone he met.”

 

Chess

Two sixth graders at St. Benedict Cathedral School in Evansville competed in the Tri-State Fall Scholastic Chess Tournament.

Isaac Wetzel received a twelfth place trophy for sixth grade and under. Ethan Schymik placed eight and received a trophy for “Top Unrated” as the highest ranked sixth grade and under student who had not competed in a U.S. Chess Federation tournament.
