Students at Evansville’s Resurrection Catholic School honored Principal Theresa Berendes Dec. 11 with a luncheon that included Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Daryl Hagan and Resurrection Pastor Father Phil Kreilein.

Student Council members organized the event, and students and staff from across the school offered their thoughts on Berendes and her service to Resurrection and its students. Here are some of those comments (students and staff are not identified):

“Mrs. Berendes shows her love for Christ as she works closely with students, faculty and their families.”

“She makes every student and staff member feel important and loved. She is caring and considerate of our personal and professional lives. Her guidance and strength have helped each of us grow professionally and personally.”

Her hard work and long hours show her dedication to everyone at Resurrection. She encourages us to do our best and to make Resurrection a place like no other! She is the kind of principal that other schools dream of having!”

“We are so blessed to have her as our leader!”

“Thank you, Mrs. Berendes, for saying ‘Yes’ to Resurrection School and for believing in all of us.”

“She works very hard to be there for us, to keep our school bully-free, and to help us – whether it be when we are hurt or if we have homework. We love that she has candy in her office and that she arranges for us to get cake for our birthdays.”

“We admire how she has handled heartache and tragedy over the years with strength and compassion.”

(From eighth-graders) – “We will miss her next year when we leave, and we pray for her and her success like we know she prays for us.”
