A welcome from Father Madden

“Praise and thanks to God, who has called us to know, love and serve Him together here in Dubois County, Ind., and to build up the kingdom of God at this time, so that we can delight in His goodness forever,” writes Father Michael Madden in the parish newsletter at Sacred Heart Parish in Schnellville and St. Anthony Parish in St. Anthony.

The newly-named pastor asks his parishioners for their “kind patience,” adding, “’ll try to put specifically priestly ministry of Word and Sacrament as highest priorities.”

He said, “I hope to grow and learn through getting acquainted with your faith experiences, even as I pledge to do my best to hand on the fullness of the Catholic faith and to share my experience of Scripture, Catholic spirituality and parish life that have been my total focus for these past decades.

“As my regular confessor quoted the other day, ‘God has made us too good, not to want to make us better!’”

Guadalupe Center

in Huntingburg

The program of immigration services at the Guadalupe Center in Huntingburg assisted over 110 clients during 2013.

Among the applications filed in 2013 were 15 citizenship, 29 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, approximately 43 renewal of green cards and temporary protected status.

In addition to these cases, about 30 more clients are seeking lawful permanent residency status (a Green Card) through an application filed by a qualifying relative. Some of these cases were initiated in 2013; others have been in process for awhile.  It may take from one to three years to complete a residency application.

In addition to these immigration services, the Guadalupe Center staff has translated countless documents including birth certificates, marriage certificates and official letters.
