 Querido Santiago,

Hola!  Me llamo Pablo.  Yo soy un estudiante de español en la escuela de Holy Family.  Yo soy moreno, alto , y muy inteligente.  ¿Qué clase es tu favorita?

Hasta la vista,

Pablo

Can you write a letter to someone in Spanish?  Do you know what the above letter says?  Students at Holy Family Catholic School in Jasper and Washington Catholic School can, and do!  First-year Spanish students at both schools are writing letters to one another this year.  Each student has a pen pal with whom they correspond several times during the school year.

Susan McKenzie teaches Spanish at both schools this year, and acts as the “mail carrier.”  The students get so excited when they receive a letter from their “amigo.”

This is a great way for students to practice their grammar skills and get to know other students in the Evansville Diocese. Have you figured out the English translation of the letter yet?

Dear Santiago,

Hi. My name is Pablo.  I am a student at Holy Family School.  I am dark haired, tall, and very smart.  What class is your favorite?

See you later,

Pablo
