Capital campaign

at Mater Dei

Timothy Dickel, president at Mater Dei High School in Evansville, reports that over $3.75 million has been received in pledges towards the $4.6 million goal in the “Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow Capital Campaign.”

The following  projects are complete:

• Media Center renovation and expansion;

• Learning Support Center enhancements. The LIFE Resource Program has a new home. This program serves students with special needs.

• The phone system has been replaced.

These projects are in progress:

• Over the course of the 2013-14 school year, lighting has been replaced to accommodate higher efficiency fixtures.

• The athletic fields are being improved. The practice fields have been expanded, graded and leveled. The newly created baseball field is scheduled to be ready for the upcoming spring season.

• Moutoux Park – the practice field has been graded and leveled. An irrigation system was installed and Bermuda grass has been plaMted.

Upcoming projects include renovation of the two major restrooms in the high school. Dickel said, “We anticipate beginning a renovations after spring break with the intention of the work being completed by the end of the summer.”

The entrance will receive a major update and enhancement this summer. The convent and properties between the two drives on Harmony Way will be razed. These areas will be cleared and excavated to enhance the visibility of the school on Harmony Way.

A prayer garden, honoring the Sisters of St. Benedict, will begin this spring with completion anticipated during the summer.

Father Ron Zgunda, pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Princeton, and Blessed Sacrament Parish, Oakland City, celebrates his birthday Feb. 12.

Deacon William Brandle, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Haubstadt, celebrates his birthday Feb. 15.

 

Thanks!

Mark Potts, youth minister at the four Martin Country parishes says “thanks” to Jamison Hennette and Carson Rayhill for helping with bingo at the Martin County Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.”

He also thanked “all those students who woke up early on their Saturday morning to come and help."

 

Appreciation

Father Joseph Erbacher writes to parishioners at the four Martin County parishes, “Grateful appreciation to everyone who attended my fare well reception on Jan. 19.

“The expressions of gratefulness shown me through your presence, good wishes, cards and money was a beautiful prayerful remembrance  and fond memory.

“I now will be pastor of Linton and Bloomfield.”

He added, “The MCCC for 10 years has been my home. I will miss it.”

Father Erbacher has been named pastor at Holy Name Parish in Bloomfield and St. Peter Parish in Linton.
