Confirmation Candidates Gather In Jasper

 More than 200 Confirmation candidates from across the Diocese of Evansville attended the 2014 Confirmation Spectacular Feb. 1 at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper.

 Bob Rice from Steubenville, Ohio, opened and closed the event with presentations to the whole group. In between, the candidates attended two breakout sessions – one on Discipleship and one on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministry offered four presentations of each breakout session, enabling every candidate to attend both sessions.

 Bishop Charles C. Thompson celebrated Mass to conclude the Spectacular. For the first time in more than a decade, the Feast of the Presentation occurred on a Sunday. As a result, the bishop blessed candles during the opening of Mass. That blessing occurs annually on the Feast of the Presentation.
