“After Thanksgiving, a new priest by the name of Father Pascal filled our church with great love and joy. Here are the top five questions we had for him.

What's the difference between being a priest in the United States and Nigeria?

Father Pascal: There is no difference between being a priest in Nigeria and being a priest in the United States. The Roman Catholic priesthood is universal. The same worldwide.

What is the best thing about Jasper?

Father Pascal: Jasper is calm and peaceful. I love the Catholic character of Jasper. Majority of the people you meet seem to be Catholics.

How did you know you were going to be a priest?

Father Pascal: I was not 100 percent sure I was going to be a priest until the day of my ordination. Though I had my call when I was 19 years and I entered the seminary the same year and kept nurturing this call with prayers and seminary formation until the day I was ordained at the age of 28.

Why did you want to be a priest in the United States?

Father Pascal: I never thought or planned on being a priest in the United States. After 10 years of priestly ministry in Nigeria, my home bishop sent me to the United States for mission cooperation with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

What do you miss most about Nigeria?

Father Pascal: I miss my family and friends. I miss the ALL-YEAR- ROUND -WARM -WEATHER.
