Comback Award

 Sam Baker, a senior at Washington Catholic High School, has received the ninth annual Thomas A. Brady, M.D. Comeback Scholarship award. The award honors student athletes who have distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity or injury and excelled beyond expectations in their respective sports.

 Baker was a freshman at the Washington school when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and surrounding  cyst about the size of a large egg. Surgery was performed, and he quickly returned to his studies and to cross country running.

 By his senior year, he competed at semi-state.
