Statue of St. Martin of Tours

Father Kenneth Walker, pastor of the four Martin County parishes, writes in the bulletin at St. John Parish in Loogootee, “It is with much appreciation that I inform you of a $5,000 bequest which was given in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Colvin.

“The Colvin family suggested that we use the money to purchase a statue of St. Martin of Tours, so that all four parishes will be represented in our new parish, July 1, 2014.

“I thought that their suggestion was a great idea and we are in the process of bringing it to completion. We already have a statue of the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist.”

The four Martin County parishes include St. Mary in Shoals, St. Joseph in Bramble, St. John in Loogootee, and St. Martin in Whitfield.
