Building Together In Faith

By

A capital fund drive is underway at Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville. The theme is “Building Together in Faith.”

The goal is to raise the funds required to construct a new pre-school, a day chapel, a gathering space and to pay for the refurbishment of the church.

Dan Hermann is a co-chairperson of the campaign which is hoping to raise between $5,000,000 and $6,000,000.

Hermann said refurbishment of the church will include carpeting, enhancement to the choir area, upgrades to the lighting and control systems, and, if possible, statuary will be added to the church. There will also be more handicap accessible seating.

• A day chapel would have a seating capacity for 75 to 100 people. It would be used to provide a space for weekday Masses, for Eucharistic adoration, for some weddings and funerals, as well as for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word component of the Sunday liturgy.

• The gathering space would be built between the church and school buildings. It would house an elevator, providing access to all the floors of the school, and handicapped-accessible restrooms would be added.

The gathering space would be a place for parishioners to interact before and after weekend liturgies, a space for family visitation prior to funeral liturgies, and as a space for overflow seating during large liturgies.

• The new pre-school facility would have 10 classrooms, a music room, a Minds in Motion room and an activity room. This expansion should alleviate any waiting list for the pre-school program.

The campaign will begin with a special kick-off celebration on Sunday, June 1, and will culminate on Saturday and Sunday, August 23-24.
