Bishop Charles C. Thompson was installed as the Fifth Bishop in the Diocese of Evansville on June 29, 2011.

K of C donation

The Knights of Columbus Father Ryan Council 6679 has donated $500 toward the repaving of the parking lot at Holy Name Parish in Bloomfield.

“Their good works and donations are greatly appreciated,” writes Father Joseph Erbacher, pastor.

Saying thanks

Father Kenneth Walker, pastor of the four Martin County parishes, writes, “It is most appropriate to thank Shirley Jeffers for her leadership and dedication as head of our religious ed program for St. John and St. Martin parishes.

“For years Shirley has directed the youth program at St. John and agreed this past year to assume the role of directing our religious education classes.

“She served as a mentor for Mark Potts as he became our youth director.”

He added, “We will miss Shirley but are most thankful that she will continue to be a teacher within the program and on hand to share her vast experience.”

Cynthia Schneider, principal at Reitz Memorial High School, Evansville, celebrates her birthday June 27.

PR/Media relations

Randy Capehart is the new PR/media relations coordinator at St. Mary’s Heath in Evansville.

His responsibilities will include updating patient conditions for media, sending press releases for upcoming St. Mary’s events and coordinating story coverage as well as updating social media sites.

Jubilarians

Dave and Ann Bowling celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 6. They were married June 6, 1964, at St. Simon Church in Washington [now Our Lady of Hope]. They have three children, Rebecca Price, Rachel Wildman and Matthew Bowling, all of Washington.

Scholarships

Luke Lottes and Jacob Howard are winners of the Holy Name scholarship at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper.
